Event 7 Mountian Island Lake Presented by Installing The Holidays

Another great event today. The 7th installment of the 2019 season. This event was presented by Installing The Holidays and we fished on MIL aka Mountain Island Lake. Reports a few weeks back were amazing. Lake on fire, big fish coming out, eating all baits…..well…today proved all that wrong. Fish were tough to come by for most. Big fish were few and far between. We started the day at 430am and we had 68 anglers come to compete for the monthly #qc1000 today. The weather was nice, clear skies, no wind, but it got warm. The water was 5-6 ft vis in most areas of the lakes. Reports from anglers had fish being caught on a variety of topwater presentations and a variety of soft plastics.

When it all shook out at 3pm, we added another winner to the train win wall. Graham Reay snatched his FIRST SATURDAY WIN today. So awesome. Super happy for him. He puts the work in month after month and he has been cashing checks these days! He wins today with 66.25 which includes the Emerald School of Excellence big bass prize with a 19.75 inchers. He walks away with $1225.
Chris Goodwin keeps hot this month. He lives on MIL, fished it hard in preparation for this event and it all paid off today with a 2nd place finish worth $561. Ronnie Murphy is impressing the club with his consistent fishing every month. He wraps up 3rd and takes home $374. Nick Huddlestonhasn’t seen or lost to many 30inchers this month ;). He stayed to himself and cashed a big 4th place check today bringing home $265. Tim always cashing Sabella takes the Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle free entry and turns it into a top 5 finish worth $180. Matt Hawj and PC Hawj continue amazing fish and take home 6th and 7th. Jay Park didn’t win a raffle so he figured he take home 8th place today! an Ab Vang jumps into 9th place and Jason Lowe plays bubble boy rounding out the top 10 for a free entry into the KFWC event on Norman. Congrats guys!!!!! If you cashed please post pics.

Matt and PC take home the MIL team division win today. Earning another $100. Thank you Lakeside Barbers and Hands On Installations.

Andy Myers goes back to back Yak Bass’n small bass 🏆 He catches a 5.25 worth $390!

Things get interesting in Sept. 7 events are in, the drops start now. Will you sneak into the Dynamic Health AOY race? Will you sneak into the top 15 TOC. We will be fishing for $4000* .
Will you earn a fish off seat? Jump into the wildcard? Who knows what Norman and Wylie will do to the standings. Going to be fun to watch.

I want to give a huge thank you to Ryan HulseyBradMary Ferreri, and Ezzy Ferreri. Weigh-in was smooth as always. Quick and easy. Great food provided by ITH. Amazing.

We don’t have a trail event in Aug. We are fishing a charity event, benefiting Emerald School. Its a Kiddie rod event. Character push-button rods. Haha. Should be fun. Jason is the current kiddie rod champ. Will he be dethroned? Grand prize is a @nativewatercraft Slayer XC!!!! $40 entry fee. Takes place on MIL again (maybe changing) weigh-in, food, and ribbon cutting will be at Emerald school!!!

Anything you need just let me know. Ryan will be posting all results under files.

Event 6 Lake Hartwell Presented by Air One Heating and Air

Big day for the club. Over 2 hours away from home for most of us and we still pulled 62 anglers! It was awesome seeing a bunch of new guys, and some guys I only see once in a while. Between Grady’s Great Outdoors and AirOne Heating and Air everything was awesome. Lowell Brannanwelcomed us to his lake, and at the end of the day, I think most guys had fun. After getting off the water, fresh hot BBQ was waiting for the hungry anglers. Hit the spot.
Weds-saturday about 20 QC guys were camping in town and I gotta say, it was a blast hanging with you all off the water.

When the fishing started the weather was nice. Cool, calm and a good morning bite for most. Wind picked up a little, and the sun got warm, but all in all, mother nature cooperated.

Before I get into the winners I need to thank everyone who helps me during the day. My hands on team of Brad Cox and Ryan Hulsey. Perfect teamwork for sign in and weigh in. Jason Lowe, always willing to lend a hand, or a TV to the club. KeriandRyan Ratliff for grilling at 11pm last night. Guys who set the banner up, take pictures, see who’s coming in late. Its all very important and I just want you to know it doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you.

So who took home the #Qc1000? This guy is a sponge. Learning at every moment. Working so hard. Practicing a ton. He was a nervous wreck when he grabbed his plaque today and im super happy for him. Mr. Chris Goodwintakes it down with 65inches! He edged out the current Dynamic Health AOY leader PC Hawj. Third goes home with David Golding. Ryan Hulsey continues running hot and snatches 4th. Jamie Swaney rounds out the top 5! Congrats on the big money boys! The rest of the standings will be posted by Ryan.

The Yak Bass’n small bass pot was worth $480 today and was a battle. Two 6inch bass were weighed in, and then bam, two 4.25inchers hit the table haha. Ronnie Mr Big Bass and Andy Myers split it up!
The Emerald School of Excellence big bass pot was also a nail biter. 3 anglers tied with 19.75. Joey RandallJohnny Barrett and Ryan Hulsey. Congrats guys.
Chris and Joey took home the June Team event this month. Thank you Lakeside Barbers and Hands On Installations
Plenty of raffle prizes went home today as usual.

6 events down. 3 left before we crown an Angler of the Year and we all fight for the championship. Full daily and yearly standings will be posted later.

We are at Mountain Island Lake next month. I will make the event page at some point this week. I am on vacation and hopefully off the grid most of this upcoming week.

If you cashed please post your fish. Thx all! You are all awesome.

Event 5 Badin Lake Presented by Joe’s Bait & Tackle

Here we are…..
“Half way” kinda, through season 5. Its been a great year so far. We hit up Badin Lake today. Sign in and weigh in took place at the great Joes Bait Tackle and Guns. They are an amazing host and we are proud to call them a Title Sponsor. We closed up sign in at 5am with another solid showing of 63 anglers.

6am launch. Most guys knew the lake would be packed. A large charity event, a crappie event, and at least one other local club event. Well….Badin needed a boat limit today. The traffic was horrible. Glitter rockets, jet skis, more jet skis, wake boards, pontoons. Man o man. Tough day to be on the water. I felt like I was fishing off shore all day.

Regardless of the traffic, rumors were the lake was on 🔥. It proved to fish fairly well. A good amount of fish weighed in with plenty of big ones.

Austin Vang continues his hot streak today and claims the coveted #qc1000. Congrats dude!
Matt Hawj never fails to find them and took home second place today, over $500. My boy Shelly Efird made a guest appearance and must have kidnapped Joey Sullivan, they go 3, 4, as expected from these hammers. Teng Yang rounds out the top 5 this month! 10 guys cashed today. Its always exciting to see new guys like Jeremy Hughes cashing! Congrats! The top 10 is in the pictures.

Ronnie Murphy is a big bass hunter!! He catches ANOTHER giant. 22.25, for the QCKBF big bass lead for the season. That tank propelled him into 6th place today. Thank you Emerald School of Excellence for the plaque. Big Iron Taxidermy, I have a feeling you will be making this guy a mount!

The Yak Bass’n small bass was 7.75 and went home with Arnie. Almost $500!!!! Hysterical.

The PC Hawj Matt Hawj combo lead to their first team victory. They took home $100 cash for that and have extended their lead on the Lakeside Barbers/ @hands on installation Team division. Congrats boys.

We gave away a ton of items today. Thank you to our club sponsors.

All standings have been posted. AOY/TOC is heating up. Top 15 gets to fish the championsip, and top 10 get to compete for another $1000 against the Navy.

We visit new water for QC next month on the beautiful Lake Hartwell. Grady’s Great Outdoors will be hosting us for pre regi on Friday night before, sign in morning of, and weigh in, along with….drumroll, FEEDING US some amazing BBQ. Be sure to be there. AirOne Heating and Air is presenting this event, lets show out. I will work on ramps and event page asap.

We raffled off a kayak today that was donated by Aaron Miller in an effort to raise money for Mike Little and his mother. We raised a lot of money and Tim Sabella was lucky enough to go home with a sweet Kaku 12.5 outfitted with LED lights!! Congrats Tim!!!

Anything you need, hit me up.

You all took amazing pictures today. Maybe 1 penalty. Great day to judge. Thank you.

2nd Annual Lady’s Only Event

Today was amazing Second annual Ladies event! We fished a small lake, Lake Monroe in Monroe NC. It fished tough. We only had 4 ladies join us today, which gave them plenty of water. I had the pleasure of helping and watching Mary Ferreri fish all day. She is the 2018 defending champ after winning last year with 4min to spare. Today she grinded hard and stuck some pigs. She landed a 19.5, 18.5, and a 14.5 for a total of 52.5. Second place was Alicia Huggins with 17.25, 3rd and 4th tied with 17inches, Ashley Monroe Hearn and Melissa. Mary took home Big Bass, and Melissa Switektook home small bass with a 5.5incher.

Event 4 Lake Wylie Presented by Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists of Charlotte

Great day on the ol Lake Wylie today. 66 of the greatest anglers around came out for the 4th event. Double April events this season, with an average of 76 anglers, cant complain about that.
With the owner of Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle fishing his CATT championship today we had to extend our hours, making it a 10 hour day. No complaints from the guys, and a ton of fish came to the table. I think it was the most fish ever weighed in at a QC event. Many guys caught over 20 each. The weather cooperated, got warm, but never real windy. Pleasure boaters came out, but that’s Wylie.

When it came down to weigh in Mr. PC Hawj got back to his winning ways, taking home the #qc1000 today. Mike Constable wrapped up 2nd place on his birthday. Awesome job boys. Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists of Charlottewas our title sponsor today. Luke Britz came out and cooked for all of the guys. The food, drinks, chips, and desserts were amazing. Thank you buddy. The Emerald School of Excellence big bass award was a three way tie today, with 20inchers. Commish, Corey Coffey and PC spilt up $225 and some hardware. Austin Vang took home the Yak Bass’n small bass award worth $410 with a 7.5incher. The Lakeside BarbersHands On Installations, and Daves home repair Team award went home with Joey Randall and Chris Goodwin today with 70inches. Congrats boys!

We gave away a ton of raffle prizes as usual. Thank you sponsors.

Event 3 Lake Wateree Presented by US Tree Climbers

Crazy day on Lake Wateree. We all questioned what she would give up in April since we always fish it mud summer. Well….What if I told you 68 inches didn’t win cash!! WOW. This was the first Queen City Kayak Bass FishingPlastic Navy Kayak Anglers joint event. It was flawless. We had 86 anglers come play in South Carolina. What a great crowd. Kids from HS fished, and their Coach/Teacher joined as well! We raised the payouts today and #qc1000 turned into #qc1300. In the main event today we also had the QC vs PNKA 10v10 showdown. I think Cam and I realized this showdown may have caused more harm than good in the fishing community and we both agree this would be the final round. QCKBF did get the Win by 148 inches. Ryan Hulsey anchored QC and won the $200 side pot. For the people who watch but have never joined us, we all talk trash, we all fish hard, we all want to win, but in the end we are all friends and shake hands, and hug. We don’t need a 10v10 ruining that.

The day started off with the worst fog we had ever seen. 30ft vis maybe. Without gps on your fish finder, almost impossible to launch. The weather stayed mostly cloudy, slight drizzle on and off, and then the sun poked out later. Fish were caught on a variety of baits today. Some bed fisherman did well, some avoided beds at all cost, some parts of the lake had no beds. Very interesting lay of the lake today. When it was all said and done we met at Gadgets of Lugoff for the award ceremony. Cameron Tetterton pulled it out!! Trash talking home lake boy walks up with the biggest smile weighing in 73.75inches!!! Huge victory for the Admiral, taking home the US Tree Climbers #1300. Ryan Hulsey snatched 2nd place with 73in, and side pot money, and Commish side pot money for a total of $995. Not bad!! Fat Larrytakes home 3rd place with 72 inches worth $480!
Graham Reay 4th 70.75in $375
Matt Hawj 5th 70.75in $280

Event 2 Lake Hickory Presented by Southern Bell Realtors

#QC1000 2019 event 2 presented by Southern Bell “Selling the South” TM Charlotte Realtors was amazing. 71 anglers came out to fish a pre spawn Lake Hickory. Pre fishing reports were mixed, along with constantly changing weather patterns, who knew what to expect. The lake was almost full pool, which was a welcome site for fisherman. The weather didnt drop as predicted, and the lake cleared up big time. What did that mean for the fishing? Well…..22 of 71 anglers weighed in a limit, with two anglers over 70 inches, and a massive would be 22.5 inch big bass, penalized for 22inches. Also a 21.75, and multiple 21s weighed in. I would say the lake fished well for most.
We launched at 730am, along side two LARGE boat events, one from Oxford, one from Wittenburg. Weigh in was 4pm, only 10 min from the lake so anglers had a few extra minutes to fish. When it was all said and done, Mark Wilkins weighed in a 71.25 bag and took home the $1000 first place! Congrats! Brad Cox continued his hot streak with ANOTHER second place finish, taking home over $500. Mike Little shows up with 3rd place, banking $352.
4th- $300 Johnny Barrett
5th – $230 Jacob Stafford
6th- $180 Eric Carroll
7th- $140 Tim Sabella
8th Commish $100
9th- Ryan Hulsey $80
10th- Matt Hawj $50
11th – PC Hawj free entry.

The @ yak bassin small bass was 7.25inches, and was worth $420. Johnny also won that for a total of $720!!!! The @emerald school of excellance Big bass was won by Kou Yang, with a 22inch beast worth $250.

Thank you to all of QCKBF sponsors for supporting us. We gave away a ton of prizes today, as usual.

Event 1: Lake Norman Presented by : PersonaForm Designs

Season 5 has started. We were at the usual Lake Norman today. Usually its 65 and sunny, well, complete opposite today. Cold, wet, nasty. We met at Gander Outdoors at 5am. Let me just take a second to thank them. They weren’t due open until 9am. At 515am, managers and employees showed up! They opened the store for QCKBF!!! Not only that, they printed up qc flyers with coupons for us all. Then, they gave us the lodge room!!! An indoor facility for weigh in. It literally changes everything. I cant begin to thank them enough. We will be back there for the charity event in March, and Norman round 2 in Sept.
We had 68 anglers come kick start the season today, with most joining the AOY, and 11 teams. Great start. Most knew the lake was a little off for Norman. Cold, mud, fishing wasn’t great. Registration ends at 7am and all anglers scatter. 10 open ramps! Rains all morning, winds, cold, few texts here and there telling me the bite was TOUGH. I think we all know, somesones gotta win!
430pm rolls around, lodge room full of red faces, and tired anglers. We got to put our new technology to use, and weigh in took only 20min!
When all pics were judged, Tim always cashin Sabella took home first place with 68.5inches, and also the Yak Bass’n small bass award with a 7.5in, worth a total of $1400.
The 2019 co commish, Brad Cox stole the show with a solid 2nd place worth $585. Jared Kimak snuck into 3rd place and won almost $400. QCKBF Event 9: Presented by Southern Bell

What an amazing day. Season 4 regular season is over, and I must say, #qc1000 was a hit!
We wrapped up today on Mountain Island Lake. Weather was looking bad, rainy and windy, and many anglers didn’t have much to fight for, but we still had 53 guys come out! Wow. With only two ramps open, most anglers stayed at the sign in ramp. Launch at 7am and we are off! Tough day for some, myself included. MIL is known for numbers, not size, but we had a few nice fish caught today. Tim Sabella found his way back to the podium and ended 2018 with a $1000 win! He stuck 69 inches today. Congrats buddy! Young gunna Zach Clark ends his regular season on a high and takes home 2nd place worth $465! He had 65.75 inches. Chris Goodwin has been busting his tail this year. Learning, improving, winning off season events and today it all paid off. He snuck in 3rd place with 65.5 inches and won $310, but more importantly he earned a “fish off” spot against Eric Carroll for a chance at getting in the TOC. Tammy-Josh Neal was talking smack all month about him winning, well he was close! 4th place with 64.25 worth $160! PC Hawj rounds out the top 5 with 63.5 and takes home $120. Kevin Wilkinson followed up his 2017 Trail Win with a solid 6th place and brings home $100. Matt Hawj turned another free entry into cash, $60 for 7th place with 60.75. Rounding out the cash spots in 8th, with his first cash in a trail event, Josh Rose. He wins $50 with 59 inches. Great job winners.
Aaron Miller and his son Cam Miller fished together today. Well….Cam took home the Emerald School of Excellence big bass pot worth $260 with a 19.75 inch. Jason Lowe was lucky enough to hook and land a 4.75 inch bass today to take home $340 in the Yak Bass’n small bass pot! 1st Annual Lady’s Only Event

1st Annual Lady’s Only Event

What a fun day! The first annual Ladies event happened on Mountain Island Lake today. We had 8 women join us, and their husbands, or boyfriends joined as well. Men were not allowed to fish, just help with intel, ideas, knots, lures etc. No casting, landing, measuring, etc.

We launched at 730am, with a slight breeze and overcast skies, I think all the men figured it was game on! Well……not so much. Very little if any morning bite was reported. In fact, very little or any bite was reported all day! Hahaha. Not one angler culled today. The 3 four fish limits, all caught only 4 fish each. Every angler did catch a fish though, no skunks.

In the end, when the yelling and divorce threats settled down, Mary Ferrericame out on top! She had 49.5 inches and won by .25 inches. Mary and I had a hell of a day. Started off with a few Line Out Custom Tackle LOCTcrank bait fish, one of which got measured and one Mary dropped back into the water while clipping it. Then she loses a fish at about 10am, and then not a bite for 4 hours. She sticks a shakey head fish at 1:58pm. It gets her refocused for the last hour and she says, you got any more spots?? I take her across some deep water fish and she sticks one at 2:44pm on a TrueSouth Custom Lures 4×4. I look at her and say, one more bite in 10 min, we win…..she throws it out, boom fish on at 2:54pm. Full sprint mode to the ramp, Chris Goodwin watching us, hoping we dont make it back, but we did! She won the event in the last 6 minutes. A true “never give up” moment. Congrats lady, very proud of you.

2nd place with 49.25 inches was Team Goodwin and Melissa Switek. Congrats on a great day! Chris had her go about 10 miles in the Native Watercraft Manta Ray today! Well worth some cash, a QC certificate, and some awesome prizes!

3rd place, Team Young Gunna and Sydnee Wilcher with 46.5in. Goes home with a certificate and some prizes! Congrats!

Ashley Monroe Hearn takes home the Small bass pot, andddddddd the big bass pot!!! Wow! Not a bad day for no limit! Big bass was 15.5, small bass was 7.5. Congrats girl!!!!

Thank you to all the sponsors who made this event fun.
PersonaForm Designs will be making Mary a sweet 1 of 1 Hoodie.
Adam Fillmore a sweet Emerald School of Excellence custom rod. Every angler left with a TS lure, or LOCT lure! So amazing. Yak Bass’n donated 3 items as well, and the top 3 anglers took them home!

Then we grabbed lunch together, well, because in the end building friendships is what this is allabout.
Thank you Joey Randall, for letting us use your lake, I mean coming to weigh in and supporting us. Thank you Richard May and Jesse Steven Sylarfor coming as well!

Swisher sweet, Buster Swisher, thx for running around and making the event today. Leah Swisher, great job in 3 hours!

See you all on the 20th at MIL again. Yikes.

QCKBF Event 8: Presented by US Tree Climbers

Well well well…. The #jacksonstrong event, combined with the U.S. Tree Climbers event set Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing history today! We were able to raise over $13,000 towards helping Jackson get the help he needs. Read that again, $13,000. I am proud of this group, and want to thank everyone who help and donated.

The fishing part of it was not so much fun lol. Lake Wateree had been tough for the past month or so. Not giving up fish in practice, anglers were worried about game day. We had 50 anglers sign up this morning, in the middle of nowhere in Lugoff Sc. 49 of the 50 entered the #jacksonstrong side pot which allowed us to pay the top 3 on the side event, and donate $2450 just from entries. We launched at 6:30am, along side at least 3 boat tournaments, and another kayak event. I dont think anyone was surprised to find silver stripe fish very active, and the old green heads lazy as can be. At the end of the day, only 10 anglers had limits. WOW! Lots of skunks and 1 fish submissions.
When the smoke cleared, PC Hawj came to the table with close to the magic number of 70inches, 69.5, and took home a nice $2000 cash!! PC also won an amazing trophy from US tree climbers, and an awesome plaque from AirOne Heating and Air. He also claimed a hair cut from Lakeside Barbers. Congrats man!!

QCKBF Event 7: Presented by Kayak Fishing With Christ

Well well well. Lake Wylie round two, just turned in to Buster Swisher dominates round two. We had a great crowd of 50 anglers this morning on Wylie. 8 ramps open, people all over the lake, in two states. The general feel was, limits would be small. Well…. weather was different today than anyone practiced in. Windy, windy, windy, and cloudy. The lake fished hard but still gave up some good limits and some big fish. Only 14/50 people had a limit and we had 11 skunks. Kayak Bass Series and Kayak Fishing With Christ helped make this event amazing. It was a qualifier for the KBS championship, so Buster you are qualified if you pay your membership. After all the work of fishing and kayaking, Santiago Ortega Rivera cooked up some tasty hot dogs and hamburgers for ALL OF THE ANGLERS. Thank you so much for being an awesome title sponsor.
Buster keeps his lake Wylie winner title for the 2nd time this season. He had 71.25inches and went home with $1000 and 300 points.
PC Hawj, possibly the best kayak angler I know finished 2nd with 67inches and took home $468. He again fished for free this month .
3rd went home with Richard May, 64.5in worth $312. Tyler Smith snuck in the cash this month with 63.5 and walked away with $150. Young Gunna aka Zach Clark rounds out the top 5 with 63.25in and won $120.
6th- Ryan Hulsey 62inches, $80 and won two side bets with that.
7th, commish, 59.5in, $50 but also snuck a 5.75incher in for the $390 Yak Bass’n small bass pot! 8th went home with Robby Sinker, 59.25 and he wins a free entry next month.
Our Emerald School of Excellence big bass award goes home with Chris Grant, $245 for his 21.25inch(21.75pre penalty) beast! Congrats! Our Scivation smallest limit award goes home with Kevin Wilkinson with 50.75inches. Mike Constable earned himself a free entry into the Sept event by finishing one spot higher than loud mouth Joey Randall. It only took 33.5inches to beat joey 🙄. Team event presented by Pro Image Sportsgoes home with the Commish team. Kevin and Zach take home 2nd this month. That race is tight. I’m loving the team gig.

On the KBS side of things, Buster also won another $380, and Zack took home another $100+. Ryan and Vinny each won a Manley Fishing rod for 3rd and 4th.

I’d like to give a huge shout out to anyone who helped make today awesome. You know who you are.
As always, give thanks to our club sponsors for providing deals and prizes at every event. Any angler who came to weigh in today LEFT WITH A PRIZE!!!!!

All results, and standings are posted. Out next event is a dual event raising money for a teenager in need. $2000 cash* to be paid out for 1st place*. Sept 15th on Lake Wateree. Come join us! The event will be updated tomorrow with times and ramps etc.
Questions or comments holla!!!!
If you cashed please post your pics. Your ramp pic does not need to be posted.

QCKBF Event 6: Lake James presented by Installing the Holidays

The famous Lake James. The “hardest lake” in North Carolina. Known to the locals as The Dead Sea. Well……Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing took her on today!
Lemme start with the group of guys that camped! We had a crew camp Thursday night, and then that crew tripled in size Friday night. It was a blast. Minus extreme humidity, the weather was amazing for hanging around a campsite and sleeping under the stars. What a fun time.

Weather for the event was also nice, a little hot, but nice. Maybe a slight breeze but nothing crazy. Sign in started at 4:15am and a line formed fast. At 5am we had 54 anglers paid and ready to fish! That’s an impressive number for James, a lake that people prefish and dont return. 5 ramps were open, so guys spread out nicely. Guys were catching them in practice and you could feel the excitement.

3pm rolls around and the parking lot is packed at the country club. Guys walking around in santa hats provided by Installing The Holidays. We had a Christmas in July theme going.

When the smoke cleared, Euv Gnet had a big bag of 69.50inches, earning him $1000, a free haircut to Lakeside Barbers and an AWESOME trophy from ITH.
Second place went home with first time QC casher Cha Xiong. He had 65inches worth $501! Rounding out the top 3, Robby Sinker, the reigning QC Champ with 59.25 worth $334.
4th Lowell Brannan 58.50, $160
5th Michael Hearn 56.50, $120
6th Andy Myers 56, $100
7th Ryan Breneman 54.50, $60
8th Brett Tudor 54.50, $50
9th PC Hawj 54.25, Wylie free entry.

Yak Bass’n is the clubs small bass sponsor, and helped sponsor this #qc1000 event today. We usually donate 50% of the small bass entry to Heros on the Water, but today we paid out 100%. Chris Goodwin is running hot and smoked a 3.75incher, yep…..a 3.75incher worth $460!!!!!! He also got the plaque and some awesome Yak Bass’n gear. PersonaForm Designssponsored the largest smallie pot today, $100. Mike Constable crushed a North Carolina citation smallie, 19inches and took home the cash! The Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass award went home with Andy Myers and his massive 21incher. He took home another $270 for that! Tammy-Josh Neal and Eric Carroll took home the Pro Image Sports Team event today and Ryan Dills and Shaun Applegate took 2nd. Congrats guys.

Thank you as always to our amazing sponsors that make QC what it is. We give away so many awesome items! Tracy Stanford took home another smallest limit award and brought his wife another jar of Scivation recovery.

Things are going to get interesting now fellas. Round 6 is over and the drops begin next month. Those AOY standings are going to change a bunch! Keep fighting for those 15 spots in the championship! The next event is Lake Wylie on August 18th!

If you cashed today please post your pics.

QCKBF Event 5 Presented by Mystery Tackle Box

Event 5 is over. The Mystery Event presented by Mystery Tackle Box is always a fun event. Not knowing where we will end up. Not being able to plan or practice. It adds a new level to the game. Usually at this point of the season we are looking towards the finish line. Usually only 2 events left, drops start now etc. Well 2018 we changed it up. We added two events. The main reason for that was because of summer fishing. Some wanted to eliminate summer events. Some wanted to keep them. So I added two events, and added a drop, in turn giving you the opportunity to skip summer fishing. I think some people took advantage of that this month. Mystery draw usually scares a few off, plus the drive, plus the 200 degrees outside. We had 47 come play today. Regardless, the excitement of $1000 was still in the air. We launched at 530am, four ramps on beautiful lake Rhodhiss were open. Guys were spread out really well. Not a breeze in the air, glass water. Some guys reported great top water bites, and some didn’t get a sniff. We didn’t have a ton of bass caught today, and most the fish that were caught were on the small side. Fish didnt seem to picky about what they ate tho. Junk fishing for most guys. At the end of the day PC Hawj laid the smack down on the bass, and us. He had the only 70inch limit and walked away with the #1000. Not very close behind him was Andy Myers with 63inches good enough for $430. Rounding out the top 3, Melvin Yang with 60.5 worth $290!
4th- Kevin Wilkinson 60.25- $150
5th- Matt Hawj 60.25- $120
6th- Lowell Brannan 60- $80
7th- Matthew Boone 59.5- $50
8th- Saturday Mel 59.25- free entry

Our Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass went home with Tracy Stanfordand his 20 inch pig! He took home $230.
Our Yak Bass’n and HOW small bass pot went up with the Co Commish Buster Swisher. A 7.25inch worth $125. Buster also won the smallest limit award and has a chance to recover with some Scivation!
The Pro Image Sports team event went home with Kevin Wilkinson and Zach Clark. They each earn $50 to ProImage Sports. Commish and Co commish took second, worth $20 each to ProImage.

It was so hot today people had their phones in coolers at the weigh in so they would cool down and work. I had to put the AC in my car on during weigh in so Buster and I could get our phones to work. Summer fishing is tough. The grind of waking up at 130am today. Fishing all day. Standing at the weigh in. Give yourself a pat on the back if you did it and made it all the way to 3pm. I always have a blast with you guys. Thank you for fishing with Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing. Our next event is Installing The Holidaysevent 6 on Lake James. July 28th. Ramps, times, etc will all be posted this week. The sponsor and myself are working on a few things.

Please take a second and give pur sponsors a like on FaceBook. These companies give us so much stuff to give away at every event. (See pics below).

The drops are coming and the AOY/TOC race is getting interesting. Will you make the top 15 event!? Dont give up. Anything can happen!

P.s. huge thank you to Ryan Dills and Ryan Hulsey for handing the boards today. I need extra hands. Time to hire someone.

MT. ISLAND Sunday Shootout

Mountain Island Lake woke up from its dream and sucked again hahaha.
They pulled the lake down over night and most people struggled today. We did have 13 come out today which was awesome for a Sunday on memorial day weekend with little notice.

We ended up trying out MLF “style”, in other words we did a 10 fish limit with a 12 inch min.
Being a Sunday we dont weigh everyone in, only people close or in the money so I only know who finished top 4.
Tim Sabella had the only 10 fish bag for 156 inches, with a Big Bass tie of 18inches. He took home a total of $210.
Adam Fillmore aka Hunt Fish Paddle took home 2nd with 94 inches and won $80 .
Commish landed in 3rd and Josh Rose in 4th. Josh also split big bass with Tim.

Congrats guys!

Had fun. More Sunday’s coming soon.
Wasnt a huge fan on MLF. Maybe simply because we are used to looking for big bites. I dont know. Not sure I’ll wanna do that style again.

QCKBF Event 4 Presented by Joe’s Bait, Tackle & Guns

Well well well. Event 4 of 9 took place on Badin Lake today. The lake had been on fire for a few weeks now and it didn’t disappoint today. Before we get into the recap I need to give a tremendous shout out to Joe’s Bait, Tackle & Guns LLC! We took the shop over for 3 hours last night, an hour at 4am today and a few hours this afternoon. Rodney, the owner of the shop could not have been a better host. He made us feel like home and we at QCKBF are greatly appreciative.

The event! We had another great turnout. 60 anglers came to play and take a run at that #qc1000 $1000. We launched at 6am with some scary skies and 300% humidity. Bad forecast for the day kept some anglers home, but the ones who braved the water were greeted with hungry fish today. It seemed to be a numbers day, with most anglers reporting catches of 15+fish. We all know someone will find the biggins on tourney day, and this season has proven that these lakes we fish hold some giants. 6 ramps were open today on beautiful badin lake. Anglers were spread out all over. Weigh in was back at Joe’s at 3pm. Cars rolling in, everyone in a good mood, excited they had limits. It was a great feeling.

Matt Hawj put a beatdown on us today and took home the $1000 with 75.75 inches. Congrats man!!!
The winning limits this season are tremendous.

2nd place goes home with John Ladd with 71.5 inches worth $528. John has been fishing hot this season and is going to be tough to catch in the AOY race.
3rd place was a new face to the cashing table. Lance Berry with 68.5 worth $352. Good job young Nu.
4th place, fishing in a pink swifty, David Cheek with 68.25 worth $200.
5th place and Emerald School of Excellence big bass goes to the loud mouth 12 year old, Riley Mcdonald!!!! He stuck a 22.5inch MONSTER. He takes the Big Iron Taxidermy free mount lead for the season and took home $430!!!! And some hardware
6th place, and his first trail cash Shaun Applegate with 67.75 worth $100.
7th place and also his first trail cash, Mike Constable with 66.25 worth $70.
8th place and winning his buy in back Euv Gnet. . 66.25 worth $50.
PC Hawj plays bubble boy again with 66.25 and wins a free entry.
Congrats to all of the cash winners. Please post your cashing fish asap.

John Ladd and Joey Randall win the Pro Image Sports team division this month, and Ryan Dills and Shaun claim 2nd. Good job guys!

We were able to donate another $175 to HOW today. Jake P wins the Yak Bass’n small bass with a 6.75 in worth $175.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors. We are able to give away some many prizes at every event.
Thank you to anyone who plays a helping hand in QCKBF. I was short handed today and my boys stepped up and it went perfect. Still keeping weigh in at an hour or lower. That’s a big deal.

Our next event is an interesting one. Its Mystery Tackle Box Mystery Lake Month. We will draw June 14th, in the evening. We fish June 16th. The lake is off limits on June 15th. No prefishing allowed. The lakes in the hat are Fishing Creek sc, Rhodhiss Lake, High Rock, and Tuckertown. I love the mystery format. Let’s do it!

We had a lot of new faces who said they had a blast. I hope you all continue to join us. We also had a woman fish with us as well! That’s awesome. I love watching this sport and this group grow. You guys are amazing.

Files will be uploaded as I finish them.
Questions or comments just holla!

Kiddie Rod Event

Wow!!! What a day! QCKBF had its 1st annual Kiddie Rod Event today! We we’re raising money for Emerald School of Excellence and Kayak Fishing With Christ. I gotta say……it could not have went any better!!!! What blast it was seeing everyone show up at 5am with 3 ft poles and push button reels. All the guys were in s good mood, laughing, talking, sh*t talking as always. The weather couldn’t have been better either, cool, clouds, light breeze. Set up under the lights we had 15 people show up to fish. We raised over $500 in the name of charity today.
Launch comes at 610am and everyone takes off as usual, kiddie rods in hands.

At the end of the day Jason Lowe kicked our…..well, you know. He brought in 73.75 inch bag on the Dock Demon!!!! His bag was anchored by a 20.75 big bass winner pig!!! He broke his personal best not once, but twice today!!! On the kiddie rod!!! Amazing. Congrats man, super happy for you . Jason wins a Ncpierman Taramelli red fish trip, a custom PersonaForm Designskiddie Jersey, a sweet photo shoot with Mike Constable and a ton of other prizes!!! Rounding out the top 3, Tammy-Josh Neal with 60.5. He fishes for free next event at Badin Lake, and took home a ton of amazing lures and prize packs. David Golding was the highest hobie finisher in 4th place, and claimed the #regifted hobie buff. David and Tracy won the team side pot today. Our top 3 anglers today were all in Native Watercraft slayer propels Yak Bass’nSmall bass was a tie today between Tracy Stanford and Zach Clark, both with a 9 inch stud! Usually a tie results in a split, being we always fish for money….wellllllll….Manley Fishing rod was up for grabs, and tha would be tough to split. We settled it like an old school argument and flipped a coin! Haha. Zach takes the rod and Tracey the Hat!

I cant thank the companies who donated prizes enough. It’s the prizes that make this event fun!

So many bass were caught today it was insane. MIL showed out, and so did the amazing QC crew. Thank you all for being who you are. Let’s keep this QC train rollin. This event will now be a staple in the QC schedule going forward.

Post up some funny pics and vids from today !
