Event 7 Lake Murray

2022 Event 7 Lake Murray Presented by Buddies Marine and River Runner is in the books! We had a blast on and off of the water today. A ton of work was done by Chad Walden, Jaimie Walden and Buddy Walden to get the tent set up and the food set up. We had some amazing BBQ and sides. The tent was perfect because it stormed really bad just as we were going live. Thank you Buddy’s Marine and River Runner Outdoor Center for bringing us back to the amazing Lake Murray. Thank you to the 50+ anglers who came back to weigh in. It was a smaller event today with ⛈️ predicted all day and 50+ of the 76 anglers came to eat and hang out afterwards. A true testament to the group of anglers we have here. Thank you Kelly, Vice president of Lew’s for coming and donating combos to the kids! Event 1 Lake Norman Presented by Todd Sides Realty

Season 8 started off with a bang on February 19th 2022. We opened the season on Lake Norman with the support of Visit Mooresville and The Pit Indoor Kart Racing. 146 anglers signed up for the event which was our season opener record and also the Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing stand alone event record. We have had higher, but it included a double dip event. Native Watercraft was excited to make this the largest season ever and we are off to a good start! Todd Sides Real Estate Agent NC was our presenting sponsor for Event 1 and he has been super excited for that opportunity for a long time. The weather yesterday was a mixed bag, as was the fishing. The morning started off cool and calm with bright sun. Anglers were choosing where to fish from the 11 Lake Norman ramps. Most were anticipating high winds in the afternoon, and we taking that into consideration. The weather changed for the worse around noon. The wind kicked up, creating some tough conditions, but also led to the fish turning on and the actual fishing improving for most of the field. We fished from 8:00-4:00pm yesterday and then over 100 anglers met at The Pit for a weigh in ceremony with food, drinks and snacks. I was lucky enough to be on a media boat captained by Wes Cloninger. I hired a professional photographer and we drove all over the lake take amazing shots of the anglers. Those pictures will be released tomorrow. Mary Ferreri and William Benini were judging fish all day, start to finish. We ended the day with 146 anglers, 334 fish, 39 limits and 40 skunks. I was on the Carolina Kayak Lunker Hunters Podcast last week and I said on the show we would see some big bags this weekend on Norman, and I think I was right.

In first place with 76.25, Mark Wilkins goes home with $2000! Mark was also fishing from his Native Watercraft so he takes home another $50 bonus cash! Congrats on qualifying* for the 2022 TOC as well!
Not far behind in the Lumina Sun Smart Home second place, with 72.50, Ronnie Murphy is going home with $1150, $675 for the Academy Sports + Outdoors Elite Win, and another $75 for the Rock Outdoors Team Win. A total of $1900!
Rounding out the top 3, Chris Goodwin with 71.50. He takes home a total of $1030 which includes his Rock Outdoors Team Win.
Making the top 5, in 4th, Mr. Hammer Time AKA Austin Vang with 70 inches worth $725. Right behind him in 5th, Keng Vang with 68.50 for $630!
In 6th place, Nick Huddleston takes home $496, plus $300 for his Emerald School of Excellence and Academy Sports + Outdoors Big Bass award! His 20.50 inch earned him a total of $796!
In 7th, and making a huge comeback after a tough start, Joey Randall with 68.25 worth $440.
In 8th with 67.75 Tyler Smith goes home with $360.
In 9th with 67.75 Logan Talbert goes home with $305.
In 10th with 67.25 Tracy Stanford goes home with $240.
In 11th with 66.75 Chris Grant goes home with $200.
In 12th with 66.50 Jared Branch goes home with $170.
In 13th with 63.25 Yee Hang starts strong again with $150.
In 14th with 63, Co Commish Ryan Hulsey goes home with $125.
In the final cash spot Adam Fillmore with 62.50 takes home $100.
In the Tudor Home Services Bubble Boy spot, Larry Wood earns a free entry into Event 2 at Santee with 61.25.
Jeremiah Whitlow takes home the Sugar Creek Coffee Roasters Small bass pot for $230 with a 9.5 incher! TANK!!

Risen Son Custom Lures donated a free entry for the Santee Event and Trent Davis won it but is unable to use it. We re-ran it, Jeff Travis is our new winner. Congrats!!

We paid out a total of $9,451 yesterday!
We also put $858 into the TOC pot!

Thank you so much to all the anglers who call QC Home!! We are blessed to have a group of people around us as awesome as you. Thank you to all the sponsors who support us. The table was so packed again that EVERY ANGLER in the room, which was over 100, went home with a prize!! Thank you judges, captains, photographer’s, website creator, YT creator, IG creator, everyone who has a hand in this QC thing! I couldn’t do this without you all!

Lets keep this train rolling into Jurassic Park. We will be on Santee on March 26th with the Hobie BOS – Bass Open Series crew. We are lucky enough to have the opportunity to double dip with AJ Mcwhorter and them Hobie boys. I know about 80 of us got into the BOS event, and I anticipate many of them coming to the QC side. Not only did we eat, we laughed, prayed, told stories, made fun of each other and chilled for 3 straight hours!!

I had a blast hanging with you all!! 2022 Co-Ed planning started at the table, HA. Lets see!! Thank you all!

Lake Wylie comes through for the club when we needed it!! Our smallest event with 81 anglers, mother nature scared a bunch off. Thank you Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle for supporting the club and sponsoring the event!

Many anglers reported catches of 40+ fish and plenty of good size fish came through. The weather was perfect for the first 3 hours, and then the rain kicked in and never let up with extreme downpour from 12-1. No lighting and no wind kept the fishing good!!

Event 4 Foothill Clash presented by NorCar

Today Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing took its club full of hammers to the Mud Bowl, or the Foothills Clash, or the Foothills Frolic….. Ok, we went to Hickory, Rhodhiss and Lookout shoals. We were once again challenged by Mother Nature. She dropped about 3 inches of rain on the Foothills Thursday, completely blowing out the system. Most water was zero visibility, with a few creeks having some clean spots. The day ended with an intense thunderstorm that dropped hail on the weigh in building. 2021 has been tough on fisherman for sure. Nonetheless, we had 115 anglers come fish the first Multi Lake Event of 2021. The club is averaging 119 anglers per event at this point as we swing into some better fishing hopefully. Valuable points are on the line at every event, and I love seeing anglers show up for those points. We had a weigh in today, we ate, drank, laughed and cut up. What a good time!! When we decided to start getting serious and paying out some money, this is how it went down!! Home Lake advantage really came into play this month. Austin Vang aka Hammer Time took home the win today!!! He had a solid bag of 69.25 and won $1400!!! Not bad for $58! Right behind him with 67.75 inches, growing up on the lake, the man himself, Matt Hawj Matt took home $810! Landing in 3rd, and continuing an absolutely insane start to the season, and also taking The Angler Magazine Charlotte NC AOY lead, Mr. Jeremy Heath. Jeremy had 67.5 inches and won $690! Chris Grant started the day on fire, holding the lead for most of the day. He finished in 4th place with 66.75 inches worth $530! Rounding out the top 5, another home Lake PC Hawj with 66.75 worth $400! Congrats top 5! In 6th place, and probably still shaking, Dan Haines. Dan landed his PB today, a 22inch 7lber. Nick Huddleston joins the Elite Ranks with his 14th place finish, but enough to take home $473 Elite Dollars. We had a total of 115 anglers, 127 fish submitted, 14 limits, 62 skunks, and 53 anglers catching fish. It was a tough day for most. Our next event is on the home waters of Lake Wylie. Event 3 Santee Cooper presented by My Man the Handyman

Event 3 of 2021 was today at Santee Cooper. That name means big fish to kayak anglers, and 141 showed up to fish the amazing waters Marion and Moultrie. This event was brought to Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing by My Man the Handyman. 141 is the new club record for an event, and it wouldn’t be the only record that was set today! The area was hit with amazing 80 degree weather last week, and in true QC fashion, a cold front rolled in this weekend and dropped temps into the 40s and 50s. Anglers were sending reports of 85 inch bags in practice, with kickers coming in the 23 and 24inch range. Anglers were excited to give it their best 8 hours. We took off at 6:30am this morning, with a first cast of 7:00am. Half of the lake was battling major wind, with 3 foot rollers, and the other half was glass calm. We had another angler end up in the water this morning due to crazy wind and waves. He is fine, some missing gear, a broken mirage drive, but he’s fine. The leader board was busy today. Mary Ferreri and Brad Cox do an amazing job keeping the leader board up to date, with accurate judging all day. 263 fish came across the board today, with 98 anglers submitting a fish, and 42 anglers skunking. We had 30 limits, with Ryan Hulsey winning the Dakota Lithium Batteries smallest limit award! Congrats. Ryan was also able to take home the Yak Bass’n small bass pot with a 8.75 inch beast worth $270! Not a bad day Co Commish! Adam Fillmore and Matthew Frazier take home the Santee NeoGenix Team Division today! Congrats! We had 32 bass over 20 inches weighed in today! That’s incredible. We had some massive fish weighed in as well! Kyle Yonce and Corey Racer each weighed in a 23.25incher, with Kyle taking home the Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass Pot by virtue of tie breaker, worth a record $540!! Congrats! Chris Gravely had an amazing, and record setting day today. He was literally in shock he said at Blacks Camp and Restaurant weigh in. Chris set the QC record for largest limit today with 87.50 inches!! 4 fish!! WOW!! He also was in the Elite Side Pot. He went home with a total of $2342 today!! Landing in second place, coming all the way down from WV, Eric Cormack. Eric had a day as well! He had 80.50 inches and won $875!.Landing in 3rd place, a ball of fire named Jeremy Heath. Another big bag with 78.75 inches worth $765.New QC angler Jeffrey Duncan lands in 4th with 77.50 and goes home with $590! Rounding out the top 5, Corey Bishop with 73.25 worth $475! House keeping……Service issues. We leave 60 minutes at the end of the day. These 60 minutes are supposed to be used to take care of your service issues, or whatever you may need issues. This time is really not meant for you to stroll back to the landing, and if you do use it for that, you risk not getting your fish in by last submission time. We had some major service issues today, and it cost someone $900. Please understand that getting your fish in, or getting in front of a judge is a personal responsibility and very important in kayak fishing. Event 4 is only 3 weeks away as we travel to the Foothills. This will be a multi lake event! Hickory, Rhodhiss and Lookout shoals! Lets break 141!

Event 2 Lake Norman Presented by Denver Tackle Co.

2021 Event 2 on Lake Norman was something else. Denver Tackle Co. brought us back, and mother nature tried to kick us out. It was awesome being up in Mooresville NC. Visit Mooresville is awesome to work with and what a great city. It was cold, windy, and rainy all day today. It never got out of the 30s, and the rain only let up for an hour or two all day. Anglers mental toughness was tested, along with their rain gear. Most of the gear failed today. Numerous anglers reported getting butt naked at the parking lot and changing into warm clothes, myself included. The 2021 season weather needs to change, but numbers are again on the rise. We had another triple digit event today with 108 angers battling the nasty weather. The bite seemed to be feast or famine, with a few great bags coming in, but also 50 skunks being reported. 27 limits hit the board, which was more than many anticipated. We had 18 teams competing in the NeoGenix Team Division, and 9 anglers entered the Elite Side Pot. Once anglers found a dry spot to upload, this is what we had!
