First Annual Co-Ed Event

Today was awesome. It was our first Team Co-Ed event. We had 16 teams come out and take on the Carolina Clash waters of Norman, Wylie and MIL. Not to mention, fish with their significant other for 8 hours 😉 We had 5 different prizes. claimed all by different people/teams, just the way the commish likes its!!

Ryan Breneman and Tori M Breneman took home the big check today with 61 inches!! They took home $630

Chris Goodwin and Melissa Switek landed in 2nd place with 57.5inches and took home $270.

Rounding out the top 3, Greg Donlin and Jessica Donlin with 57 inches worth $60.

All three top finishing teams earned a custom plaque as well!!

We had a sponsored Big Bass prized from Academy Sports + Outdoors today. Female big bass was 16 inches and went home with Chloe Cox!! James Wilson takes home the Mens big bass with an 18.25 incher. Both anglers won a Lews Crush Spinning combo!!

The event was great, but…. What makes this club special is the fact that after getting up at 3am, fishing in 90 degree sun for 8+ hours, we still filled the private room at Sakura Japanese Restaurant with 20 QCKBF anglers!! Not only did we eat, we laughed, prayed, told stories, made fun of each other and chilled for 3 straight hours!!

I had a blast hanging with you all!! 2022 Co-Ed planning started at the table, HA. Lets see!! Thank you all!

Event 5 Lake Wylie presented by Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle

Lake Wylie comes through for the club when we needed it!! Our smallest event with 81 anglers, mother nature scared a bunch off. We judged the most fish for 2021 today with 310 submitted by the smallest field. We had 50 limits, and only 7 skunks. Thank you Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle for supporting the club and sponsoring the event!

Many anglers reported catches of 40+ fish and plenty of good size fish came through. The weather was perfect for the first 3 hours, and then the rain kicked in and never let up with extreme downpour from 12-1. No lighting and no wind kept the fishing good!!

When a bunch of soggy anglers left the water at 2pm, Tim Thao takes home the first place win with 72 inches. Timmy goes home with $1250!
Only 1 inch behind Tim, Tj Worrell takes home 2nd place with 71 inches worth $700.
The Commish figures out fishing for a day and lands in third place with 67.5 inches and takes home the Elite Side Pot for a total of $1168.

Event 4 Foothill Clash presented by NorCar

Today Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing took its club full of hammers to the Mud Bowl, or the Foothills Clash, or the Foothills Frolic….. Ok, we went to Hickory, Rhodhiss and Lookout shoals. We were once again challenged by Mother Nature. She dropped about 3 inches of rain on the Foothills Thursday, completely blowing out the system. Most water was zero visibility, with a few creeks having some clean spots. The day ended with an intense thunderstorm that dropped hail on the weigh in building. 2021 has been tough on fisherman for sure. Nonetheless, we had 115 anglers come fish the first Multi Lake Event of 2021. The club is averaging 119 anglers per event at this point as we swing into some better fishing hopefully. Valuable points are on the line at every event, and I love seeing anglers show up for those points. We had a weigh in today, we ate, drank, laughed and cut up. What a good time!! When we decided to start getting serious and paying out some money, this is how it went down!! Home Lake advantage really came into play this month. Austin Vang aka Hammer Time took home the win today!!! He had a solid bag of 69.25 and won $1400!!! Not bad for $58! Right behind him with 67.75 inches, growing up on the lake, the man himself, Matt Hawj Matt took home $810! Landing in 3rd, and continuing an absolutely insane start to the season, and also taking The Angler Magazine Charlotte NC AOY lead, Mr. Jeremy Heath. Jeremy had 67.5 inches and won $690! Chris Grant started the day on fire, holding the lead for most of the day. He finished in 4th place with 66.75 inches worth $530! Rounding out the top 5, another home Lake PC Hawj with 66.75 worth $400! Congrats top 5! In 6th place, and probably still shaking, Dan Haines. Dan landed his PB today, a 22inch 7lber. Dan takes home a total of $740 for 6th and the Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass Award! Back to Back cashes for self proclaimed Big Meat, aka, John Ladd. John had 64.75 and earned $280. Melvin Yang takes home 8th place with 60.75 and wins $240.The club pastor Mike MikeandNiki Hicks pulls it together today and lands in 9th with 60.50in earning $190! Rounding out the top 10, previous Hickory Champ Mark Wilkins with 60 inches and earning $165. Landing in 11th, and earning the NeoGenix Team Win today with Joey Randall , Chris Goodwin. Chris had 58.75 and earns a total of $180. Jim Jay snags 12th and gets the last cashing spot with 58.25 for $100. Tony Grissom finds himself in 13th and earns a free Wylie Entry with 56.5in.The Yak Bass’n small bass award goes home with Chad Walden today with his 9.5incher worth $241, the 1 of course being signed by the Commish. Nick Huddleston joins the Elite Ranks with his 14th place finish, but enough to take home $473 Elite Dollars. We had a total of 115 anglers, 127 fish submitted, 14 limits, 62 skunks, and 53 anglers catching fish. It was a tough day for most. Our next event is on the home waters of Lake Wylie. Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle is the proud sponsor of this event. We fish on April 24th, come join us! Thank you Brad Cox, Mary Ferreri, Ryan Hulsey for making everything go smooth.Thank you Larry Crider, the Legend, for sponsoring this event! Event 3 Santee Cooper presented by My Man the Handyman

Event 3 of 2021 was today at Santee Cooper. That name means big fish to kayak anglers, and 141 showed up to fish the amazing waters Marion and Moultrie. This event was brought to Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing by My Man the Handyman. 141 is the new club record for an event, and it wouldn’t be the only record that was set today! The area was hit with amazing 80 degree weather last week, and in true QC fashion, a cold front rolled in this weekend and dropped temps into the 40s and 50s. Anglers were sending reports of 85 inch bags in practice, with kickers coming in the 23 and 24inch range. Anglers were excited to give it their best 8 hours. We took off at 6:30am this morning, with a first cast of 7:00am. Half of the lake was battling major wind, with 3 foot rollers, and the other half was glass calm. We had another angler end up in the water this morning due to crazy wind and waves. He is fine, some missing gear, a broken mirage drive, but he’s fine. The leader board was busy today. Mary Ferreri and Brad Cox do an amazing job keeping the leader board up to date, with accurate judging all day. 263 fish came across the board today, with 98 anglers submitting a fish, and 42 anglers skunking. We had 30 limits, with Ryan Hulsey winning the Dakota Lithium Batteries smallest limit award! Congrats. Ryan was also able to take home the Yak Bass’n small bass pot with a 8.75 inch beast worth $270! Not a bad day Co Commish! Adam Fillmore and Matthew Frazier take home the Santee NeoGenix Team Division today! Congrats! We had 32 bass over 20 inches weighed in today! That’s incredible. We had some massive fish weighed in as well! Kyle Yonce and Corey Racer each weighed in a 23.25incher, with Kyle taking home the Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass Pot by virtue of tie breaker, worth a record $540!! Congrats! Chris Gravely had an amazing, and record setting day today. He was literally in shock he said at Blacks Camp and Restaurant weigh in. Chris set the QC record for largest limit today with 87.50 inches!! 4 fish!! WOW!! He also was in the Elite Side Pot. He went home with a total of $2342 today!! Landing in second place, coming all the way down from WV, Eric Cormack. Eric had a day as well! He had 80.50 inches and won $875!.Landing in 3rd place, a ball of fire named Jeremy Heath. Another big bag with 78.75 inches worth $765.New QC angler Jeffrey Duncan lands in 4th with 77.50 and goes home with $590! Rounding out the top 5, Corey Bishop with 73.25 worth $475! We paid out 15 anglers today!!6th- Teng Vue 71.50in. $400 and 2nd place Elite7th- Chris Goodwin 71.25in $3408th- Charles Lathan 71.25in $3059th- Ben Her 71.25in $22510th- Ronnie Murphy 71in $19011th- Jim MoreSea 70in $17012th- Matt Hawj 70in $16013th- John Ladd 69.5in $13514th- Tim Sabella 69.25in $10015th- Chris Grant 69in Free Foothill FrolicThank you to all of the QCKBF sponsors for providing a give away to EVERY ANGLER who came to weigh in today! House keeping……Service issues. We leave 60 minutes at the end of the day. These 60 minutes are supposed to be used to take care of your service issues, or whatever you may need issues. This time is really not meant for you to stroll back to the landing, and if you do use it for that, you risk not getting your fish in by last submission time. We had some major service issues today, and it cost someone $900. Please understand that getting your fish in, or getting in front of a judge is a personal responsibility and very important in kayak fishing. Event 4 is only 3 weeks away as we travel to the Foothills. This will be a multi lake event! Hickory, Rhodhiss and Lookout shoals! Lets break 141!

Event 2 Lake Norman Presented by Denver Tackle Co.

2021 Event 2 on Lake Norman was something else. Denver Tackle Co. brought us back, and mother nature tried to kick us out. It was awesome being up in Mooresville NC. Visit Mooresville is awesome to work with and what a great city. It was cold, windy, and rainy all day today. It never got out of the 30s, and the rain only let up for an hour or two all day. Anglers mental toughness was tested, along with their rain gear. Most of the gear failed today. Numerous anglers reported getting butt naked at the parking lot and changing into warm clothes, myself included. The 2021 season weather needs to change, but numbers are again on the rise. We had another triple digit event today with 108 angers battling the nasty weather. The bite seemed to be feast or famine, with a few great bags coming in, but also 50 skunks being reported. 27 limits hit the board, which was more than many anticipated. We had 18 teams competing in the NeoGenix Team Division, and 9 anglers entered the Elite Side Pot. Once anglers found a dry spot to upload, this is what we had! QCKBF 2020 Recap

Good morning QCKBF. The 2020 regular season is over, and we are now in the playoffs. I know I went live, and spreadsheets have been posted, but I wanted to make a formal recap post.2020 has been a crazy year. Many clubs across the nation have struggled through the pandemic, and had to cancel events, and watch their participation drop dramatically. From grassroots to high-level clubs. We here at Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing were prepared, and moved things around, and made it all work. TourneyX.com and Dwayne Walley were a huge part of this, and so were you! The willingness to go virtual and wait for a shipped plaque, or meet up for the plaques, was huge. We never stopped, and let me tell you, we prevailed. We have had major growth again this season, the 6th season in a row! We ended our 2020, #QC1100, season 6 with over 300 DIFFERENT anglers participating in our events. We had 123 anglers who chose to pay the OPTIONAL membership! That’s a huge number. We had an average of 93 anglers a month at our LIVE events. 93!!! Let that sink in for a second. We fished 9 trail events, and a Charity event, not counting the side stuff we did: Two brackets, Sundays, a Nick run night event, and so on. At the end of the day, anglers were fishing for a spot in the top 20 for a chance to win the Tournament of Champions, along with an opportunity to win The Angler Magazine Charlotte NC Angler of the year award. This AOY award is a prestigious award in QCKBF, and we have never had a repeat winner, until this season. Only a total of 5 individuals can say they have held the AOY trophy: Vinny Ferreri, Saturday Mel, Tim Sabella, Matt Hawj, and Mr. Two Time Chris Goodwin. Chris wrapped up his 2nd AOY title this weekend on James. That is extremely impressive in a club this large, with this many top-notch anglers. Congrats man. That brings us to the TOC and Fish Off event. 7 anglers are going to fish the Fish-Off, for an opportunity for a wild card entry into the TOC. Vinny, Larry Crider, Dustin Hugg, Chase Helms, Jared Kimak, Kendall Easler, and Jeremy Hughes. The top two anglers will advance. Already locked into the

Today is a big day if you are a QCKBF member. Today marks Event 7 of the 2020 season. Your 7th opportunity to earn points in the The Angler Magazine Charlotte NC AOY and TOC race. The standings will really get shaken up when event 8 and 9 add drops into the mix!!

Today we visited High Rock Lake for the first time as a club. Our sponsor for this event was Rock Outdoors, and wow, they did an amazing job hosting us. It was a pleasure to work with Jordan Stogner Lanham and Shane Dublin, and I hope we get this opportunity again in 2021.

We had 69 anglers come out and fish today, bringing our monthly average to 93 anglers!! WOW! The lake was tough today, but some big bass and big bags were posted up for sure. We had 19 limits today, and 20 skunks, with 30 people catching 1,2, or 3 bass.

The water was between 82-88 degrees, with stain throughout the lake. With 5 ramps open, we had anglers spread out from the river to the dam, battling boats and jet skis. When last submission hit at 3pm, the results were in.

Landing in first was Tim Always Cashin Sabella with a huge limit of 75.75 inches. Congrats on your $1100 Tim! Tim said he lost a fish that would have topped the 80 inch mark!! Man o Man.

Event 5: First annual Carolina Clash

Event 5 was today. We called it the First annual Carolina Clash. This event was originally going to be on MIL, but with the growth of the club, we made a decision to open all three home lakes. The sponsor Installing The Holidays was extremely excited for this opportunity, and looking back at it, it was awesome. We had 102 anglers come take their best shot with QCKBF today on Lake Norman, Lake Wylie and MIL. We had about 500 fish submitted to TourneyX.com today. Fishing was on fire for most. We had 56 limits turned in today, and only 11 skunks. The weather was amazing, finally, but….. That brought out the pleasure boaters. Boat traffic, jet ski traffic, and even planes landing on the water made things annoying for the anglers.

At the end of the day we had the new style weigh in lol. Live on FB. We were able to pay out 12 anglers today. A lot of valuable The Angler Magazine Charlotte NC AOY points were earned today as well. Hard to believe we are over half way done with 2020.

I want to give a huge congratulations to our winners today. Taking home a check against 102 anglers is impressive. The level of competition is very high here in QC.

First place went home with hot streak Melvin Yang. He had 73.75in worth $1220.

Event 3: Lake Norman

Its been in the works for almost a year. A huge event with the National Hobie BOS – Bass Open Series partnered up with Queen City Kayak Bass FishingAJ Mcwhorter and myself planned, talked, planned, talked more. Guessed at numbers. Guessed at winning limits. Etc Etc. All the things it takes to make these things run smoothly. Its a lot of prep work behind the scenes, a lot of give and take, a lot of understanding, patience, friendships, conversations, explaining things, but when you are working with the Gold Standard in directors, it all comes easy.

This weekend was simply amazing. It was huge for our city, our club, YOU the angler and I would like to think it was great for Hobie and Hobie anglers as well. We had the QCKBF Event 3 on Lake Norman this weekend. Denver Tackle Co. was amazing, staying open late, and helping guys with all their tackle needs. I had no idea what to expect as far as number of anglers in either side. The big goal was 200 each, but in the real world I just wanted to beat the first #QC1000 event of 96 anglers. Well, the final payment came in at 9:59pm Friday night and it put us at 132 anglers!!! I couldn’t believe it. Having big events is great, but it requires that much more to make things go perfectly. Mary Ferreri judged this weekend all by herself. I have no idea how she did it. We had 597 fish submitted on the QCKBF side. Let me type that again. 597! She did amazing and you should all thank her for what she does for us. With this club getting as large as we have, we are currently averaging 102 anglers a month (I know its double dip skewed), I have come to a decision. I am going to step away from fishing QC at this time. It may not be a forever thing, hell I may wake up and regret it, but, at this time, I have a more important job as director. I cant be the best fisherman, and the best director at the same time. My head is not in it as a fisherman. My phone never stops. I got 5 messages by 7:30 am yesterday, and I was on the water. Literally no way I can fish to the level I am used to fishing at when I have so much on my TD plate. I am going to be your director for the remainder of the season. I will be judging, available for phone calls, or texts, and anything else that may come up on game-day. I hope to have my full team of Mary and Brad Cox with me, along with Ryan Hulsey handling the computer stuff. Give Ryan a day or two to get the standings updated and posted.

With that out of the way lets talk about the event. The weather this weekend ended up being nice. Warm, not windy at all and no rain on Saturday. With public access allowed, anglers were spread out all over the huge Lake Norman. I know of anglers who fished to the northern boundary, and some at the southern most ramp. Lake Norman had it all this weekend. Mud, stain, crystal clear, along with Pre spawn and full on bed fishing. Whatever you like to do, you could have found it.

We were lucky enough to have our weigh in at the GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. When I sat down to verify standings, I couldn’t believe how many fish were caught, and how many limits we had, and how many 70+ inch bags we had. We always call 70 the magic number, but Norman said NO NO NO. we had 77 limits…..wow!!! We also had 6 bags over 70 inches, including a tie at the top with 72.75.

At the end of the day, we had record payouts, and Marcus Smith was the man!! He went home with $2000 which included his Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass Prize for his 21.5in giant. Congrats!!!! 2k!! WOW.

Melvin Yang smoked the bass all weekend. He tied for first in QC and lost due to a tie break. He took home second place in QC and in Hobie!!! He won $870 from QC. Chris Grant rounded out the top 3 with a 72 inch bag worth $750. His best friend Tyler Smith right there with him with 71.5 in 4th for $590. Landing in 5th was a new guy, Cameron Saxon with a 70.5inch limit, going home with $460.

6th- Mark Wilkins $375

7th- Matt Hawj $325

8th- Trent Davis $300

9th- PC Hawj $215

10th- Joey Randall $200

11th- John Ladd$170

12th- Cody Harris$130

13th- Kristine Fischer$100

14th- Nick Huddleston Free entry into Hickory.

Chase Helms took home $345 for his Yak Bass’n small bass prize with a 7.5 incher. Congrats kid!

I would like to give a huge shout out to all of the anglers who double dipped this weekend. On my quick count we had almost 50 anglers in the Hobie side. We also had our guys take home some money!! Joey RandallNick HuddlestonMark Wilkins all took home Hobie checks!!

Our next event, assuming we have no gathering shut downs from the government is April 5th, on Lake Hickory. ITS A SUNDAY.

Go give all of the QC sponsor pages some likes.

Event 2: Lake Murray Presented by River Runner

Event two was on Lake Murray today. River Runner was our event sponsor today. We had a great turnout for our first trip to Murray. 85 anglers came out for a chance at a piece of almost $4000. Mother nature has been insane for 2020. Rain, wind, floods, tornadoes. Comical at this point. Murray has anything you want. Main lake points, creeks, rocks, docks, grass, bluff walls, ledges. You name it, you can find it. That usually leads to big limits and big bass. We saw big bass come up today, but not really many limits.

The lake level rose after all of the rain on Thursday. The levels were good. The upper lake was chocolate milk, the mid-lake a nice stain and the lower lake was very clear. Anglers spread out all over the lake today. The weather today wasn’t great. It started out nice, sunny, no wind. That turned into rain, wind, waves and very cold by the end of the day. Some anglers were around boats all day, with over 300 boats on the lake today. We launched at 7:30am, first cast was at 8am, and last cast was 4pm.

Of the 85 anglers today, we had 42 skunks and only 3 limits!!!! 85 anglers….3 limits… wow!

As always, someone always finds them. This month it was David Golding going home with $1140 with 69inches anchored by a 21.25 giant. Congrats D.G.

Right on his tail was PC Hawj with 68.25inches. He took home $715!

3rd place was the reigning AOY Chris Goodwin with 63.25 worth $570.

Fourth was Jared Kimak with 58.75 inches anchored by the Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass at 22.5inches. That fish earned him $290, and a free Hobie BOS – Bass Open Series entry fee. Another $235 value. With 4th and big bass, Jared won $730.

Rounding out the top 5 was Shane Mackey, with his first-ever QC cash!! 53 inches paid $305.

Lowell Brannan took 6th with 51.25 for $205

Chase Helms aka Honey Boy took 7th with his first-ever cash. He had 50.5 for $175.

Larry Wood won 8th with 50.25 and the Yak Bass’n small bass award with a 12incher, for a total of $345.

Nick Huddleston aka lost a 20, rounded out the cash spots with a 9th place finish worth $100 with 46.25in. Ryan Hulsey gets the free entry into the next event with 10th!

Congrats to all those who cashed and took home some huge The Angler Magazine Charlotte NC AOY points!

A huge thank you to our sponsors for always filling the table for giveaways.

Our next event is huge. We are co-hosting the Hobie event on the great Lake Norman. Denver Tackle Co. is pumped to be sponsoring this event!! I am expecting the QCKBF side to break 100 anglers, and the Hobie side to max out at 200. Let’s make it happen!!! Both events are open on TourneyX.com.

Questions or comments let me know!! Thank you all for a great start to 2020.

Event 1: Lake Wylie Presented by Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle

What a kickoff event for season 6. The 2020 season started today on Lake Wylie. Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle was our sponsor for the event and out host. David Winters provided some amazing food at the weigh-in and of course a roof for us during the incoming storm.
The start of 2020 has been amazing. We have shown tremendous growth again this season. We have almost 100 paid members, and we had 89 anglers come fish event 1 today. That is an outstanding number. It was great getting back into it with the same old veterans and it was an awesome experience getting to meet so many new guys.
Overall the fishing was tough today. The lake changed colors like 50x this week. Went from high, too low, to lower to high and then low haha. Fish were scattered and even the anglers who took home checks today didn’t catch many fish. Of the 89 angler field, we only had 15 limits, and we had 28 skunks with another 21 only catching 1 fish. Despite a rough day on the water for most, some fried chicken at the shop had most anglers in a good mood. The Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation came out and showed some love for QCKBF today as well!
We had some big limits up top, and some huge payouts as well. Greg Donlin was the big dog today. He took first with 75 inches and also won the Emerald School of Excellence big bass with a 20.25. He took home $1445!!!! Wow
Second place also broke 70 inches! Chris Goodwin took home $750 for his 70.25inches.
Third place, landed on 70 and Tim Sabella Took home $600.
Fourth Place went to Mr. 2x Champ Matt Hawj with 65.25 worth $470.
Fifth place worth $330 went home with Tracy Stanford with his 65in.
Sixth was a new guy, who took some convincing to come out and I think he is glad he did. Kyle Hancock had 64.25 and took home $225.
Tj Worrell came out of the wood work and snatched seventh with 63in worth $195.
Tyler Smith always a threat on Wylie took eighth with 59in for $150.
Home Lake Joey Randall aka Paddle Boy 2020 took 9th with 57.75 and earned $100.
HamBone aka Graham Reay landed in 10th with 57in earning a free spot into the Lake Murray event.
Joe Parkulo was able to cash another check by winning the Yak Bass’n Small Bass award with a 7.75in worth $230!!
Ryan Hulsey will post the amazing standings in the files tab once he has them done.
Congrats on the cashing, and the top point spots!!
Round two is presented by River Runner on Lake Murray on Feb 8th. Registration is open on TourneyX.com and on the app.
Huge shout out to our amazing sponsors. The table was jam packed with goodies and a ton of anglers left with a prize. Event 9 Lake Wylie

I cant believe it. Season 5, regular season is over! We went out with a bang today. We ended our season on home water, Lake Wylie. With cold, rain, wind and clouds rolling in we had no idea what to expect. Overall, a lot of fish were caught today. A lot of small fish, but on the flip side of that, we also weighed in the largest limit of 2019 today! We had 53 anglers come out today. That means we finish 2019 with an average of 66 anglers a month! That is amazing!! 2020 will bring some changes, but with the core group we have here and the new guys looking to get in, I see plenty of room to grow.

On top of the normal winners today, we had year long prizes and awards to give away so weigh in was slightly longer than usual, but when you have sponsors like Luke Britz and David Winters, we have hot fresh BBQ waiting for us on site at Rusty Hooks Bait and Tackle. Thank you guys!!

Lets start with today on Wylie. We had a lot on the line. AOY, top 15 places, Team Division, and more. When the chips fell, Matt Hawj showed us who’s boss. Matt laid down 74 inches, including today’s Emerald School of Excellence Big Bass at 21 inches!! He brought home $1200 and a brand new Carolina Custom Rods, and a ton of QC hardware. Congrats.

2nd place….What can I say about this guy. A sponge. Learning and practicing every moment he can. An absolute beast on the water, and an even nicer guy on land. Chris Goodwin continued his not human run with 72.5 inches taking home $468.

3rd place today goes home with the mountain hammer himself Mark Wilkins! Mark takes home $312! 4th place goes home with Tyler Smith, worth $150. Rounding out the top 5, turning a free entry into $120, Jared Kimak. Andy Myers takes home $80 in 6th and Always cashin Sabella rounds out the money spots in 7th for $50. Congrats to all the winners.

The Yak Bass’n small bass pot was worth $220 and went home with Joe Parkulo today with his 6 incher.

The Matt HawjPC Hawj Team laid the smack down again on the Hand’s On InstallationLakeside Barbers team division winning not only today, but locking up first place for the 2019 season!! Congrats!

For the year……

Event 8 Lake Norman

What a great event 8 today. We started out at Denver Tackle Co. At 4:45am. Troy Lehew was an awesome host today ! We packed the shop with 59 anglers. The weather was great. Cool in the morning with almost no wind. It warmed up and then the pleasure boaters came out, making Norman rough waters. The bite was good for most. We weighed in a ton of fish, over 50 limits I think. I heard of many anglers catching 20+ fish. The trick is capitalizing on those big bites when they happen. Chris Goodwin was able to prove today that he is not human. He has claimed another #QC1000. He wins the KFWC event on Norman with 67.25inches. Congrats bro!!Eric Carroll had a solid 67inch bag to take home $500 for 2nd place! Commish rounds out the top 3 with 66inches today worth $336. 2nd Annual Kiddie Rod Event
2019 Results

2nd Annual Kiddie Rod Event

Wow. What an amazing, epic, historic event happened here in the Queen City tonight. Yes the Kiddie rod event was a hit, but, the ribbon was cut on the first ever South East recovery high school. Here in our city. Emerald School of Excellence is open for buisness, and Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing LLC was holding the ribbon at the ceremony.

Lets start at 5am on MIL. Well….MIL again lol. 37 anglers showed up eager to cast 29inch push button, character rods. Read that again. 37!!!! Kiddie rods in hands. Smiles, jokes, all around happy and childish, in a good way, environment. We launch at 6am. Not sure what was to be expected. MIL, August, 88 degree water at 6am. If we have learned anything in 5 years its that someone will catch them! It was fun to sit back and watch the guys weigh in today. Brad Cox took over for me as I prepped the food and stuff. The excitement, the stories. All around fun.

Before we announced all top 6 cashing spots, we had a great meal on the grill Jacob Earnhardt cooked 40 hamburgers and 40 hotdogs for all. Along with chips, cold drinks and good company, the building was lit up.

When the smoke settled, Chris Goodwin continued his dominance. He had a solid limit of 60.5inches. Enough for 1st place. He also won the Yak Bass’nsmall bass pot with 6.5inches. He then got lucky in his raffle and won the Slayer XC from @Native Watercraft, and the paddle from @bending branches When its your day, its your day!!! Congrats man!!!!
2nd place went home to last year’s Kiddie rod champ. Jason Lowe. He had 60inches today and went home with a sweet prize pack. 3rd place, the current MIL champ Graham Reay. 56.5in. Congrats!!! 4th place Fat Larry back in the mix. Aka Jason West. 56.25. 5th place, a guy we all like to give a hard time, but hes now rocking back to back cashes. Nick Huddleston. 55.5in. Sneaking into the top 6 Hal Brawley with 50.75!
Anglers went home with Custom Emeralds, baits from TrueSouth Custom LuresBizz Baits412 Bait CoLine Out Custom Tackle LOCTTRC CoversHoo-Rag. Items from Rusty Hooks Bait and TackleBending Branches, @libertyoutdoors, and of course @native. Our Big bass pot was split today. The Jason’s each had a 19inch and split the entry into the Sept event.

As a club we raised $1520 today for ESE. Joey Randall also raised another $60 via Corn hole event at the BBQ. Congrats Jacob on that win.

The ribbon cutting tonight, combined with the tour was phenomenal. It meant the world to me that Chris, Jacob, Ryan HulseyFat LarryMelissa SwitekLarry CriderVan Barkley, all stayed through the entire thing. It was hot, and late. But you supported who supports us. Thank you again.

I guess its a good time to drop some news….Emerald will be a Title Sponsor in 2020!

We have a full month to forget MIL, I mean recover. We are at Lake Norman next month presented by KFWC and Santiago. We will be being hosted by @denver Tackle co. See you all then !!
