Western Carolina Division: Event #1 Lake Keowee

What a great event today opening the BIG Adventures Western Division on Lake Keowee. We opened up 2023 along side South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation Kayak Series. Congrats to them on having 32 anglers, their largest turnout yet. They qualified 6 anglers to the South Carolina State Championship, and paid out 6 anglers today as well.

Visit Oconee SC – Oconee County, South Carolina was amazing to work with this weekend and I can tell you now, I hope they have us back in 2024!

We had 55 anglers compete today. 2023 is off to an amazing start and the expansion is going great. This event was one we expected to be smaller and to have 55 anglers in 26 degrees this morning proves that this is going to be a big season! We launched at 7:30am, and casted at 8am and most anglers reported a slow morning bite. By mid morning, and early afternoon, Blaine Upton was busy on TourneyX.com .He judged almost 200 fish today! We ended up with 23 limits and 9 skunks today. At 5pm we headed back to the venue, ate some pizza, drank some Pepsi and hung out for a while before we ran into wifi and data issues lol. No live but we still have winners!

Jonathan Yoder took home the SC BASS win, The QCKBF West Win, and the @big adventures Big Bass award. Big day. First place in QC paid $1356 and Big Bass added another $160. Yoder had 71.50 inches, and won by virtue of tie break today. INSANE!

Also with 71.5, Yee Hang. He lands in second place and still takes home $788!

Mountain Man Jeremy Heath lands in 3rd with 67.25 and takes home $473.

Bennett Nall, the new young gunna, takes home 4th place and the The Realm Of Fear Custom Baits Elite side pot with 66.25. He takes home a total of $518!

Kyle Davis lands in 5th with 63.75 and takes home $220.

Chi Peng Xiong cashes his first QC check in 6th with 63.25 and takes home $100.

Shane Copeland rounds outs the cashing spots in 7th with 62.75 and goes home with $50.

We also had a tie for the Aaron’s Baits small bass. Drew Steele and Dustin Hugg both submitted 9 inchers, split the $120 and Drew takes home the hardware for placing higher.

2 trail events down, 16 to go!! We are back at it on March 4th for the 2023 Queen City Main- Event 2 Yadkin Yolo Presented by Rock Outdoors . Don’t miss it! Big money going home, important points for the Academy Sports + Outdoors AOY on the line.
